What do classmates need to know? Who should tell them?

Keren Chansky Suberri, Ph.D., ABPP
When classmates understand the basics about asthma and asthma treatment, they can be more understanding and accepting of a child with asthma.

When classmates understand asthma, they will know when to get help from an adult for the child with asthma.

Talk with your child and decide, together, who will speak with classmates about asthma:
  • the classroom teacher?
  • the physical education teacher?
  • the school nurse?
  • the guidance counselor?
  • you, the parent?
  • your child?
  • a team presentation?
